Department Services
Since 1947, members of the Cowpens Fire Department have been proudly serving the residents of
Cowpens, South Carolina and surrounding areas. The Department provides a vast array of services ranging from fire suppression to technical rescue.
-
- Fire Suppression
- Protecting life and property from the result of fire remains the primary mission of CFD. Our members receive extensive training in firefighting and are prepared to respond day and night to emergency calls.
- First Responder Program
- The Cowpens Fire Department responds automatically to life threatening medical calls within thier primary response area. The Fire Department is responsible for providing First Responder care assisting Advanced Life Support units from Spartanburg EMS. During times of increased call volume Spartanburg EMS can request our response to provide patient care onscene in a timely manner. This is usually the case when an Advance Life Support unit's response may be delayed during high call volume periods.
- Explorer Program
- The CFD Explorer Program is designed for youths between the ages of 16-18 that are interested in learning more about the fire service. The program teaches young men and women leadership, community service and valuable life saving and emergency response skills.
|
- Technical Rescue
- In addition to being certified firefighters, our members receive additional training in vehicle rescue, rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, swiftwater rescue, and building collapse response.
- Hazardous Materials
- A hazardous material is a material that, in any quantity, poses a threat to life, health or property. More than four billion tons of materials classified as hazardous are shipped throughout the United States each year. CFD members receive special training to respond to emergencies involving hazardous substances at an "operations" level and have additional resources to mitigate these type of incidents through the Spartanburg County Hazmat Team.
